Welcome to my rambling 'Prayer Commentary' of the whole bible.
These are my [not-quite]daily scribblings to God about every verse in the bible from over the last ~decade.
You can use it to help you see 3D things in the bible text, or to get juicy ideas to teach/ preach from, or to address tricky questions, etc. I think that if you can find a single boring page in the bible, it's you ;-)
I massively value but don't emotionally 'like' commentaries because they are depersonalised. I don't like devotional commentaries or journalling because they focus on the writer or reader. So instead, I've talked to God about what I see going on in the text and what God is like. This is far more interesting I reckon. A worthwhile readings of the bible is one that gets to our throat and heart because the things going on in and behind the text are so stark and beautiful. Total Depravity is the blackened lead, and the blood-spilling Triune God is the stained glass. Religion is too boring. Spirituality is greenhouse gas. But 100% proof reformed theology is devastating and resurrecting.
If you find anything inappropriately personal in here, let me know, I'll take it down - I've not re-read anything here during the 10 years it took to scribble it. The physical spiral journals will, God willing, be given to my sons when I die, as the best thoughts about God and Scripture that I could come up with.
